Citrus Rosemary Fizz: Three Cheers to Citrus Season!

This Valentine’s Day, brighten up your evening with a cheery glass of Citrus Rosemary Fizz. It’s easy to make, it’s bubbly, and it’s perfectly pink (quintessential for the holiday, am I right?)! Not too sweet, not too tart, this cocktail will be the ultimate accompaniment to any delicious dish you whip up. Heart-shaped steak, anyone?

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 ounce grapefruit infused vodka, I used the “extract” that I made here

1 ounce fresh squeeze blood orange juice, strain out the pulp for a smooth finish, no lumpy cocktails for you

1/2 to 3/4 ounce of rosemary simple syrup, depending on the level of sweetness you desire

6 ounces of seltzer, use a citrus flavor for an extra zing!

For the syrup:

Heat one cup of water and one cup of sugar on medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add 3-4 sprigs of fresh rosemary, each about 3 inches long, and stir for 30 seconds. Remove from heat and let rest until cooled. I let it cool for about 10 minutes before I added it to a mason jar for storage. It will keep in the fridge for a few weeks.

Creating the Citrus Rosemary Fizz:

In a shaker tin with ice, shake the grapefruit infused vodka, blood orange juice, and rosemary simple syrup. Strain into one glass for a large single serving or into two champagne glasses for two smaller servings (perfect for you and your Valentine!).

Top with seltzer and garnish with a small sprig of fresh rosemary for the picture perfect pinkalicious sipper!

Imagine serving this as a nightcap with one of those delicious Orange Curd Filled Linzer cookies?!?! Yum!

It’s simple. It’s just lightly sweet. And it’s got fizz, people! The Citrus Rosemary Fizz is a refreshing way to enjoy citrus season and set the mood for the holiday of love. So, throw on your Leon Bridges vinyl, grab your sweetheart, and sip the night away.

Slainte!
